Pool Rules

Pool contamination procedure for families, now including the step to contact myself (Samantha Newsome) immediately in case of an incident.

Before attending our facility we please ask that all participants take a shower before coming to our venue, to help lessen the risk of contaminants entering the pool as we do not have a shower on site, thank you.

It is now essential that all babies / toddlers / young children if still in nappies / incontinence pants upto the age of 6 must wear a swim nappy plus a happy nappy on top. For those 6+ if still in incontinence pants must as a minimum wear a splash jammer or splash shorts to minimise the risk of leaks and contaminants entering the pool, as if this happens we must shut the pool for health and safety which can affect not only your swim session here with us but those following your session.

Immediate Action
1. Evacuate the Pool – Booking Leader – person in charge of group session must ask that all swimmers exit the water immediately to prevent further contamination and exposure.
2. Assess the Situation – The type of contamination will determine the response:
• Solid waste: Easier to remove and treat with minimal downtime.
• Diarrheal contamination: More serious, requiring extensive disinfection and a longer closure period.
3. Contact Samantha Newsome immediately – The Hirer must immediately inform Samantha Newsome via telephone 07853199405 / 07590115848 to report the incident.
4. Remove Contaminants – Any visible waste will be carefully removed using a net or scoop and disposed of hygienically.

Soiling Charge

To cover the additional chemicals, cleaning process, and time required for treatment, a £50 soiling charge will be applied if contamination occurs. This fee is non-negotiable and must be paid within 24 hours of the incident occurring.

Should you proceed to not inform of us of a soiled accident, and we find out once you have left the facility you will no longer be able to access our facilities and will be asked to pay the above fee within 24 hours of receiving the email.

Water Treatment & Disinfection – for Samantha Newsome to complete
Shock Chlorination – The pool’s chlorine levels will be increased to eliminate bacteria and potential pathogens.
• If the contamination is solid, the pool will be treated, and water quality monitored. The pool may reopen within a few hours, provided the chlorine levels return to a safe range.
• If the contamination is diarrheal, a more intensive superchlorination process will be required. This involves significantly raising chlorine levels to neutralize harmful bacteria such as E. coli and Cryptosporidium. The pool will need to remain closed for up to 24 hours to allow the chlorine to work effectively and return to a safe level.

Effect on Subsequent Pool Hire Sessions
• If the contamination is solid, the pool can typically be treated and reopened within a few hours. If there is sufficient time between bookings, the next session may not be affected.
• If the contamination is diarrheal, the pool must be closed for up to 24 hours for thorough disinfection. This may result in the cancellation or rescheduling of subsequent bookings. If another hirer’s session is impacted, they will be contacted, and alternative arrangements will be made where possible.
